Coach Stein is known nationwide as an expert in basketball training. A common theme of Stein’s workouts is the use of a tennis ball. Playing catch with the inside hand while running the length of the floor is an example of using the tennis ball. Behind the back with the outside hand, step slide, throw with trail hand and adding a second ball adds variety, and difficulty, to these drills. Using the tennis ball as the focus, Stein demonstrates over 15 drills and exercises that are geared toward improved reaction, quickness, agility, mental focus, competitiveness, dynamic flexibility and the ability to communicate with teammates.

I am the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Southwest High School in San Antonio, Texas. Last year I purchased Alan's Maximum Vertical Potential DVD, Cutting Edge Reaction and Quickness Drills for Basketball DVD, and 130 Pro Power Speed, Quickness & Reaction Drills DVD, and quite frankly - these videos changed my entire perspective on strength training, plyometrics, and developing speed and quickness. What Alan has done is take a lot of concepts we have all used over the years and tweaked them to be basketball specific. The tennis ball reaction drills, plyometric system, and weight training are the staples that have improved our athleticism to a point where we have went from an 18-18 team to a team most likely to win 30 games this season and make in to the third or fourth round of the playoffs. Besides everything Alan has developed being tailored to basketball, the most important part of what he has developed is that my kids think it is fun. They don't even realize how hard they are working because they adore the drills, and if done properly, the coaches are out there sweating with them, especially when we ball dance. Coaches always say they want players who will sweat with them, but players want coaches who will sweat with them as well. When you're out there rolling and tossing balls doing theses drills and encouraging them every step of the way, you have no choice but to sweat with them. If you want to see Alan's work in action, come to our practices. I can assure you that you will see something every day I have acquired from Alan. The "Maximum Vertical Potential" system is so incredible that all you have to do is teach your players the lifts, jumps, etc., then print the 12-week program off the disc and do it exactly as outlined. The results will be immediate and obvious, and the beauty of it is how time efficient the program is. Alan Stein's passion, energy, and love of the game are contagious. I think he is simply the best in the world at what he does. Thanks, Bill Avey
